Running a Ghost Tour Company: No Two Days Are the Same

Most people think a ghost tour is the same haunted script on repeat: show up, tell a story, send everyone home spooked. The truth is, running a ghost tour company in Phoenix is a mix of research, performance, business hustle, and the occasional séance—and no two days are ever the same.

Digging Up Phoenix History

Research is a big part of what I do. I spend time digging through archives, uncovering forgotten neighborhoods like San Pablo and Chinatown, and chasing down Phoenix’s stranger stories. I also interview locals, business owners, and people who have worked in the city’s most historic (and haunted) buildings. These conversations reveal details you’ll never find in a textbook—personal accounts of strange encounters, unexplained noises, and eerie moments that bring the past to life. When I add those into scripts, the tours feel alive, authentic, and always a little unpredictable.

Training the Ghost Squad

Training ghost tour guides is a production all its own. Each guide brings a different personality: one is a demonologist, another a comedian, another a history buff. My job is to make sure they know the research, the stories, and the ghost-hunting tools—then encourage them to make the tour their own. Before every tour, you’ll find us warming up, cracking jokes, and testing the gear. Running a ghost tour company means running rehearsals, writing scripts, and coaching performers, all at once.

Haunted Partnerships Across the City

Partnerships are a huge part of what I do. Collaborating with restaurants like Que Sazón and Caffé Boa means guests can enjoy food and drinks before or after the tours. Hotels like the Renaissance not only bring us visitors but also provide haunted history of their own. We’ve created special “Boos & Brews” menus, partnered with former jails and train stations, and even designed themed events like Friday the 13th tours. Every partnership expands the experience and deepens our ties to downtown Phoenix and Tempe.

Networking with the Living

When I’m not chasing ghosts, I’m spreading the spooky word. I work with Visit Phoenix, Local First Arizona, and other community organizations to make sure Get Ghosted is part of the city’s cultural fabric. I’ve presented at Grand Canyon University and local tourism colleges, and I’ve taken the stage at Phoenix Fan Fusion to share stories of haunted places most people have never heard of. Running a ghost tour company means being as active in the community as I am in the afterlife.

Guests from All Walks of Life

One of my favorite parts is the variety of people who show up. Some nights we host Girl Scouts earning history badges. Other nights it’s bachelorette parties armed with champagne and sashes. Families, history buffs, skeptics, true believers, birthday groups, and spooky first dates all bring their own energy. Some laugh their way through, some scream at every EMF spike, and some leave quietly shaken after a chilling moment with the spirit box.

The Digital Haunt

Social media has become its own kind of ghost tour. Every day we’re filming reels, TikToks, and behind-the-scenes content for our “Future Ghosts” community. From ghost lights at the Renaissance to strange figures captured on the SLS camera at the Hayden Flour Mill, our digital followers experience the haunt right alongside us. It’s not just marketing—it’s another stage for storytelling.

The Spirits Themselves

Ghosts don’t follow schedules. One night the EMF meter goes wild at Union Station, the next night the spirit box says my name at the Rosson House, and the night after that…nothing at all. That unpredictability is the magic. Add in the daily variety of research, training, networking, partnerships, and social media, and you get a job that is never routine.

Why I Love the Chaos

Running Get Ghosted Phoenix is more than just leading haunted tours. It’s about honoring history, building community, creating unforgettable experiences, and yes—occasionally being surprised by something you can’t explain. No two days are ever the same, and that’s exactly why I love it.

If you think running it sounds wild, wait until you come experience it for yourself. Book your ghost tour in Phoenix today and step into the story.
